Of course, to make quality candles you need quality materials and here at Poth Hille we have been providing premium waxes for over 140 years. We pride ourselves on the quality of our product, which are sold not only in the UK but internationally as well.
We offer a wide range of waxes suitable for both the hobbyist and the professional candle-maker, from the traditional paraffin wax to the more eco-friendly, natural waxes. We use numerous special additives to enhance their efficiency and burning properties to ensure your candles are both beautiful and functional. Beeswax is, of course, a favourite, with the raw natural product being washed and filtered to render it suitable for making candles. Our experience in this particular area has earned us the opportunity to source a UK Soil Association certified organic European beeswax, which complies with British Pharmacopoeia.
These two are the waxes with which most people will be familiar, but they are far from being the only good candle waxes we provide. Rapeseed wax, offers a more sustainable alternative to petroleum-based waxes, with a far smaller carbon footprint. We produce it in forms suitable for either container candles (where the wax is softer and housed in a non-flammable container) or pillar candles (where the structure of the candle is entirely composed of wax), and it is ideal for scented candles as its aroma retention and diffusion properties are excellent, and it is easily coloured.
For those who are concerned with their candles being as “green” as possible, we now offer Nature’s Gifts International’s EcoSoya soya-based waxes, compatible with a wide range of oils, fragrances and dyes. We also have the Cargill NatureWax range, burning for up to 50% longer than other waxes and providing un-paralleled candle performance.
So whatever your needs when it comes to candle-making, whether you’re new to the craft or an old hand, we at Poth Hille have a wax that will be perfect for you.
