Carnauba Wax Substitute

Carnauba Wax Substitute (PHC 2350) acts as a strengthening agent, thickener, stabilizer and consistency regulator in cosmetic formulations. (PHC 2350) contains 30% Prime Yellow Wax Carnauba. It is a hard, pale yellow wax with a high melting point and very similar characteristic to the original.

Carnauba Substitute (PHC 2350) is suitable for cosmetics applications such as lipsticks, mascaras, pencils and hair styling products.

For a further low-cost alternative, Carnauba Substitute (RD 919) is a blend of Paraffin Wax, Glycol Montanate and Synthetic Wax. Both waxes are effective alternatives to natural Carnauba Wax and 100% Vegan.

Candelilla Wax Substitute

As a protected species under CITES, the regular supply of Candelilla Wax has become increasingly difficult to secure. In response to demand from the cosmetic sector, Poth Hille have formulated a totally natural and a synthetic version that meets the specification and general characteristics of this wax.

Candelilla Substitute Wax PHC 9023 is an all-natural wax blend formulated to replicate the performance and characteristics of refined Candelilla Wax. PHC 9023 is for use in lipstick and mascara formulations and fulfils the COLIPA recommendation No.14 relating to lip care products. It is a hard wax without being brittle, comparable to natural candelilla but lighter in colour.

Candelilla Wax Substitute PHC 9024 is a blend of natural and synthetic waxes that is compatible with other waxes, resins, rosins and oils can be used in cosmetic and personal care preparations. It can be used as a component in creams and ointments etc.

PHC 9024 is not suitable for lip care products under COLIPA recommendation No.14. Please refer to PHC 9024 for these applications.

Shellac Wax Substitute

Shellac wax is obtained from the de-waxing of shellac resin, it is a material that is subject to availability and price fluctuations within the market.

Often used in more traditional cosmetic formulations for lipsticks and mascaras it has become expensive and necessary to offer an alternative.

Shellac Wax Substitute RD875 contains no Shellac Wax but is still able to reproduce its qualities and appearance but at a fraction of the cost.

RD875 provides good performance in mascaras as well as improving pigment transfer. RD875 is also suitable for lipsticks and pencils to enhance stability and generate surface gloss.

Natural Hydrocarbon Wax Substitute

RD 903 is a natural wax blend that imitates the behaviour of hydrocarbon waxes such as lower melting point Paraffin Wax in cosmetic formulations. RD 903 was formulated in response to regulatory legislation (COLIPA) discouraging the use of Paraffinic Hydrocarbons particularly in lip products.

RD 903 is Firm, smooth, off white in colour, looks and feels like a Paraffin wax. Can be used to improve consistency and gel forming in cosmetic formulations. Drop point 46*C.

Because of its low melting point RD 903 is ideal and a natural wax alternative to paraffin wax treatments at spas and nail salons. Colour and fragrance can be added.

Shellac Wax Substitute

(PHC RD875)

A blend of natural and synthetic waxes designed to replace the wax fraction of Shellac in cosmetic and home care formulations. RD875 provides good performance in mascaras as well as improving pigment transfer. RD875 is also suitable for lipsticks and pencils to enhance stability and generate surface gloss.
