Modelling Wax
Poth Hille can offer a comprehensive range of modelling and sculpting waxes.
Modelling Wax (PHC 8352) is a yellow/brown colour, softer modelling wax, can be softened by the heat from your hand and will stick to itself readily. Suitable for lost wax casting.
Available in 500g or in 5kg slab. Melting point 63ºC – 72ºC.
A soft terracotta coloured filled modelling wax. Has a similar feel to modelling clay but will not dry out. A very good as an impression material.
White Modelling Wax RD921 is an extra fine filled modelling wax for work requiring detail. This wax has a firmer feel at normal room temperature, but will soften easily in the hand, building easily onto itself.
These filled waxes are non-sticky, easily moulded at room temperature and leave no residue on the hands.
Casting Wax
The lost-wax process is a method of metal casting in which a molten metal is poured into a mold that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the mould made, the wax model is melted and drained away.
A high-quality Green Casting Wax (PHC 7456) for use in lost wax casting. The wax casts easily, withstands handling when cold without cracking, and burns out cleanly. This wax is firm and so is suitable for carving, modelling with wax modelling tools, pouring and painting into moulds. Melting point 58ºC – 62ºC.
Orange Earth Wax (PHC 6379) is a general-purpose lost wax, containing Carnauba Wax, Paraffin Wax and Rosin. This has been a popular and traditional formula for many years.
The wax may be softened or hardened by adding more paraffin wax or amber rosin.
Melting point about 50ºC-55°C
Timber Sealing Wax
Cricket bat willow grows predominantly in wetland areas throughout East Anglia. Only English cricket bat willow is suitable for professional bat making, offering the properties necessary to produce a bat which is sufficiently light, yet fibrous enough to withstand pressing and ultimate use against a cricket ball.
During the early manufacturing process the willow trees are cut in clefts which are graded and dried for a period of up to 3 months. Timber Sealing Wax (PHC 8642) prevents the ends of the clefts from splitting during the drying process.
(PHC 8642) does not contain solvent and can be applied directly to wood when molten.
Available in 5 kilo slabs in 25 kilo packs.
Mandrel Wax
We can offer a comprehensive range of Mandrel Waxes developed by our R & D team for use in industrial applications including the production of tissue and kitchen rolls. The process requires a high performance wax be applied to the cardboard roll during production stage preventing friction overheating, reducing the likelihood of glue sticking to the mandrel and also allowing the glue to bond successfully to the card to produce a clean roll.
We are able to custom make optimum block sizes with the correct dimensions to fit any manufacturer’s machinery specification requirements.
The range offers a soft (PHC 3413), medium (PHC 3414) and hard version (PHC 3415) to provide the best possible performance.
Soil Sealing Wax
Soil Sealing Wax (PHC 8515) is a blended wax sealing material formulated to guarantee the preservation of fluids saturation and preventing soil sample from drying out over a long period prior to analysis at the laboratory.
The standard procedure requires wrapping the geological sample with several layers of cling film in addition to a layer of thick aluminium foil prior to dipping into the molten wax.
Soil Sealing Wax (PHC 8515) only requires moderate heating when using and will cool down quickly between each dip. A minimum of three dips will usually be sufficient to seal the sample.
Suitable for the sealing of Shelby Tubes during transportation and preventing of moisture loss. The addition of Beeswax improves flexibility, prevents shrinkage and sample damage.
Karagami Wax
The purpose of waxing is to keep the ironer chest lubricated and it should be done sparingly but often. Wax can be powder or paste. It is placed on to the leading edge of the wax cloth, usually inside a pocket or barrier flap.
Sometimes known as Karagami Wax or Laundry wax. Ironer Conditioning Wax (PHC 8896) is a wax compound supplied in flake form for easy spreadability. Ideal for medium temperature flatwork ironers and pressing equipment. Helps produce a smooth finish, prolonging ribbon life and prevents sticking to the heated cylinder.
Karagami ironer conditioning wax (PHC 8896) is formulated for usage in troughs with a maximum of 175° C, available in 2.5 kg resealable bags or 25 kg packages. . Higher working temperature grades are available on request.
